Safety Tips in Oninder

Meeting new people on Oninder is exciting, but always put your safety first, whether you're messaging or meeting in person. You can't control others, but you can follow these best practices.

Online Security

Never send money or share financial information.

Never make transfers or share banking information. Transactions via apps or checking accounts are almost irreversible and easy to scam. If someone asks for money, report it.

Protect your personal information

Don't reveal sensitive information: address, daily routine, social security number, your children's names, etc. Limit what you show on your profile and in your first messages.

Stay in Oninder

Keep the conversation within the app. Bad actors often rush to move the chat to SMS, WhatsApp, or email to evade our security filters.

Be wary of long-distance dating

Be wary of profiles that claim to be out of the country and ask for financial assistance or refuse video calls and in-person meetings.

Report suspicious behavior

Block and report any violations: solicitations, underage behavior, harassment, fake profiles, spam, or inappropriate content. Use the "Report" option on any profile or chat.

Protect your account

Choose a strong password and never enter your credentials on public devices. Oninder won't ask you for your password via email; if they do, report it.

When meeting in person

Don't rush

Take your time. Make video calls or phone calls before the first meeting to verify identity and detect any red flags.

Find public places

The first date should be in a crowded place, never in a private location or at your home. If you're invited to a secluded spot, cancel the date.

Share your plans

Let a friend or family member know the time, place, and who you'll be meeting with. Have your phone charged and ready.

Control your transport

Plan your return trip: have taxi apps or contacts on hand who can pick you up if you need them.

Know your limits

Avoid excessive alcohol or drug use that impairs your judgment. If you're pressured to consume, end the date.

Don't neglect your belongings

Keep your drinks and personal belongings (purse, cell phone) in sight at all times. Don't accept drinks from strangers.

Trust your instinct

If something makes you feel uncomfortable, leave and ask the staff for help.

Travel and LGBTQ+ Communities

Get informed before you travel

Laws and risks vary by country. Consult official sources and consider hiding your orientation in "Settings" if the destination is unsafe.

Consent and sexual health

Practice safe sex

Correct condom use reduces the risk of STIs, although some, such as herpes and HPV, are transmitted through skin-to-skin contact. Get vaccinated if possible.

Know your status

Many STIs don't show symptoms. Get tested regularly. Find clinics near you.

Talk about sexual health

Clearly communicate your boundaries and status before intimacy. In some places, transmitting an STI without warning is a crime.
